A letter from the Chairman:
As usual we attended the Blackpool Model Boat Show held at the Norbreck Castle Hotel. This is a new venue for this annual event and was a big success. Facilities were much better than at the Winter Gardens although poor catering was a sore point with many visitors while ample parking was a great plus.
The large hall was well laid out with traders arranged around the walls and all club stands well spaced in the centre. The 'Bring and Buy' room was tucked away in a remote corner and, apart from occasional announcements over the PA, wasn't well advertised or easy to find.
We had a large selection of member's models on display covering a wide range of styles from tugs to warships. Attendance by club members was excellent, we rarely had less than two members on hand to answer the many questions asked by a large number of interested visitors.
One of our members won the award for Best Scratch Built Model in the Working Boats class. (Modesty forbids me from mentioning his name here.)
Overall, I would classify the show as a huge success and hope to see everyone there again next year.
Finally, I would like to express my thanks to all members who contributed to making our stand one of the best in the hall. As a club we should be proud of the display that we put on. |
